SPI Experience
EuroSPI conferences present and discuss practical  results from improvement
projects in industry, focussing on the benefits gained and the criteria for
success. Leading European industry are  contributing  to and participating in
this event.
This year's event is the third one to be hosted in Scandinavia which has one
of the most vibrant SPI communities in Europe and is home to some of the top
electronics companies. It is the 7th of a series of conferences to which
countries across Europe and from the rest of the world contributed their
lessons learned and shared their knowledge to reach the next higher level of
software management professionalism.

Who should attend?
The conference   will  benefit  all who are  concerned  with  the  management
and improvement of organisational processes, the  innovation and  effective
use of information systems and software processes,  as  well as all those who
are  interested  in  developing efficient  and profitable  work  processes  to
increase the  competitiveness of the organisation  in  the market.


Contributions will address the following topics:

Call for Participation

Presentations will be from leading companies and experts in the field.
Abstracts for papers of approx. 200 words  should be sent to the conference
secretariat (ASCII text by Email is preferred) no later than 28.4.2000.
European projects disseminating SPI experience and ESSI Process Improvement
Experiments (PIE) are encouraged to participate.

Associated Events

In conjuction with this conference there will be a  mini-seminars and workshop
day  dealing with practical issues of Software Process Improvement. Workshop
leaders will be recognised experts in the  field.The workshops cover  the
following  topics:

  Business and Goal  Based SPI
  Cost Benefit Analysis
  Root Cause Analysis
  GQM workshop
  Data Analysis
  Assessment Methodologies
  SPI in Innovation Management
  Teamwork  Based SPI Principles and Experience.

While the conference is a collection of different experiences the workshops
are interactive sessions in which participants learn ''how to do it''.

Tool Fair

A Tool Fair will accompany the main conference exhibiting tools supporting
process analysis, the management of software process improvement environments,
work flows  and measurement.

EuroSPI Partnership

The EuroSPI partnership was formed in 1998 to continue with the conference
series and training actions previously organised in partnership with ISCN,
ESI, and SP.
EuroSPI is a consortium of Sintef (Norway), IVF (Sweden), Delta (Denmark),
STTF (Finland), DERA (UK), ASQF (Germany), and ISCN (Ireland and Austria).
It bases on a defined model for conference organisation, standards for
conference performance, and standard types of agreements. It is EuroSPI's
policy to grow over the years into an organisation with one representative
per European country and with a conference series securely managed at
least until 2012.
EuroSPI is already well planned in advance with EuroSPI 2001 in Oslo, EuroSPI
2002 in Nuernberg in Germany, and EuroSPI 2003 in the UK.
