MULTIMEDIA ON THE FRENCH RIVIERA

It is our great pleasure to invite you to Juan les Pins, France, for
the Tenth ACM International Multimedia Conference. The conference
continues to be a unique venue bringing together leading researchers
and practitioners in all areas of multimedia applications, computing,
and networking.

Please visit http://www.acm.org/sigmm/MM2002/ or continue reading for
a synopsis of the conference.

THE VENUE

ACM Multimedia 2002 will be held on the French Riviera, renown for its
beaches facing the azure Mediterranean, its proximity to Provence and
the Alps, its sunny and mild winter climate, its sunsets, and its fine
wine and dining. The Riviera is also the home of the Cannes Film
Festival, an annual multimedia event. The conference will be held
near Sophia Antipolis, a major European center for computer
technology, communications and multimedia, which includes major
research organizations such as INRIA, EURECOM and the W3C, as well and
major industrial employers such as Amadeus, IBM, Motorola, Siemens,
France Telecom, and Texas Instruments.

The conference will take place at the Hotel Ambassadeur
(http://www.hotel-ambassadeur.com), the most recently built 4-star
hotel in Juan les Pins. Located in the heart Juan les Pins, near the
famous GOULD pine grove, the hotel is just 200 metres from fine sandy
beaches and basks in an idyllic setting of greenery, palm trees and
azure blue.

TECHNICAL PROGRAM

The members of the organizing committee have worked hard to produce an
outstanding program. As in past years, the technical program includes
a broad range of the best research in multimedia technology, primarily
in the areas of: multimedia processing and coding; multimedia systems
support and networking; and multimedia tools, end-systems and
applications. The program includes 46 full papers, 41 short papers
being presented as posters, 21 leading edge technical demonstrations,
and 11 video demonstrations. The best paper and best student paper
will be presented in a plenary award session at the conclusion of the
conference.

The Technical program will take place from Tuesday, Dec. 3rd to
Thursday, Dec. 5th.

A list of accepted papers can be found at
