        CHI 2000
        1-6 April 2000
        The Hague, The Netherlands

2000 Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems

http://www.acm.org/chi2000

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

The Future is Here

Computers are ubiquitous and increasingly affecting our lives. Today,
computers are portable, held in the hand or carried in a pocket, worn as
part of clothing, and embedded in offices, homes, and automobiles.
Human-Computer Interaction as a field is thus increasingly concerned with
a growing community of people, more diverse in their background, skills
and training than were yesterday's typical users.

What are the important problems for today? The year 2000? The future?
What are the solutions to these problems? Present your work at CHI 2000
and predict the future by helping to make it.

CHI 2000 invites submissions on the full range of HCI related topics,
including, but by no means limited to:

Visions of HCI in the future
HCI issues with new application areas and user populations
HCI research and development in Europe
        Forward looking perspectives on HCI
        Analysis, design, and evaluation methods
        HCI and society
HCI and users with special needs
        Theoretical foundations of HCI
        Devices and displays
        Systems, tools, and interaction techniques
        Critical reviews of HCI work
        Education about HCI
        Case studies and design briefings
        Guidelines and design heuristics

Throughout the conference, we will highlight aspects of the CHI 2000
Conference Theme "The Future is Here":

- Future HCI: explore visions of the future that will challenge us in the
  21st Century
- Beyond the Desktop: discuss, design, and influence the way computing
  moves away from the desktop
- Focus on ubiquitous computing: computers that are everywhere:
hand-held, worn, embedded in offices, homes, and automobiles
- European HCI: CHI 2000 will focus on Europe's HCI scene
