Some federal agencies and companies are now requiring that IT candidates be certified in their discipline. Many companies and agencies that do not require certifications are now recognizing the value of a certified candidate. A certified candidate is demonstrating 2 things:
- a breadth and depth of knowledge of a particular discipline as it is practiced in the industry
- a continued and significant amount formal study and training to keep current to maintain the certification
Our panelists are holders of certifications and have spent many years helping to develop certifications and assisting people in attaining and maintaining their certifications. They will be discussing the certifications testing and training offered by:
· Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP)
· Data Management Association DAMA International (DAMA)
· International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc., (ISC)²®
· CompTIA
If you are an IT professional or student, if you own or manage a business that employs IT professionals, this evening will be time well spent.
Speakers will include:
Dr Joyce Currie Little CDP. The founding chair of Towson State University's computer science department. She is an ACM representative to the Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals (ICCP)
Loretta Mahon Smith CDMP, CBIP, CCP Mastery Level Data Architect. She is also a Member of the Board of Directors, VP of Communications at DAMA International and a Brown School of Business Leadership Advisory Board Member at Stevenson University
