Here's a friendly reminder about our upcoming BayCHI UE BOF/ Bay Area UPA 
meeting at Intuit on Tuesday, July 19th.  We'll hear about exciting Customer
Driven Innovation techniques used by the Quicken team to create a new
product.  Treats/socializing will begin at 7pm and the talk will start
at 7:30pm.

Presentation

Quicken Rental Property Manager is the first new product that the
Quicken team has released in many years. Suzanne Pellican, the Product
Visionary and User Experience Lead, will share design highlights of
the product and learnings from the process of creating a whole new way
to develop products in the Quicken group. Included:

~ how to scope for the first release
~ concept evaluation research
~ rapid prototyping with Flash
~ lessons learned


Speakers

Suzanne Pellican is a senior member of the Quicken User Experience
Group, responsible for the quality of design for all Quicken products.
She has eleven years of experience in creating user-centered designs
for both consumers and enterprise clients. Her expertise lies in the
seamless blending of visual design, information architecture, and
customer research to create elegant user-driven solutions for both
desktop and web applications. She has a specialty in the design and
launch of version 1.0 products -- most recently, Quicken Rental
Property Manager, where she played the role of Product Visionary and
User Experience Lead. Prior to joining Quicken three years ago,
Suzanne worked for Fitch and V2 Group, two multi-disciplinary design
consultancies, where she had multiple financial institution clients.
Suzanne earned her BSID with a specialty in Visual Communications from
The Ohio State University.

Matt Homier is a senior user experience designer and prototyper for
Quicken product family. He has employed a wide range of skill sets
over the last decade to develop user-centered designs for desktop,
Web, and blue-sky applications. He has transformed his background in
multi-media in to the ability to develop realistic prototypes that has
taken user testing to a new level at Intuit. Matt specializes in
designing new product concepts and experiences with a customer focus.
Prior to Intuit, Matt has worked at Fitch, various Internet and
multimedia firms, as well as his own company for several years. Matt
has a BS in Industrial Design from The Ohio State University.
