UbiComp 2011
Beijing, China, Sept 17-21, 2011

Call for Poster, Demo, Video and Doctoral Colloquium submissions
Deadline June 22nd
http://www.ubicomp.org/ubicomp2011/calls.html

The 13th International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing (Ubicomp
2011) welcomes original, high-quality research contributions that
advance the state of the art in the design, development, deployment,
evaluation and understanding of ubiquitous computing systems and their
applications. Ubicomp is an interdisciplinary field that includes
technologies that bridge the digital and physical worlds, systems and
applications that incorporate such technologies, infrastructures that
support them, human activities and experiences these technologies
facilitate, and conceptual overviews that help us understand – or
challenge our understanding of – the impact of these technologies.

==Posters, Demos & Videos==

The Ubicomp 2011 adjunct program track provides researchers with
opportunities to present their cutting-edge work in an interactive
fashion. Posters can cover preliminary or exploratory work within
ubiquitous computing, report smaller projects or results not mature
enough for a full paper, or present any other research that would
encourage discussion. Demos should exhibit novel ubiquitous computing
technologies, especially in scenarios involving innovative and
creative solutions that participants can try out for themselves.
Videos should present practical application of research into
ubiquitous computing systems, visualizing the outcome of research and
development projects, or show inspiring visions of future systems.

Multi-Presentation Submission Process:
Posters, demos and videos are an integral part of the Ubicomp
conference. Following last year’s success we will be adopting a
multimodal process, where the three types of submissions are
integrated. This approach provides participants with more
opportunities to showcase and discuss their work with others. A
multimodal submission also increases its chances of acceptance. If you
submit your work to multiple tracks, the individual formats will be
reviewed independently according to the criteria of each track. Making
a combined poster, demo and video submission thus gives you three
chances at acceptance.

Accepted submissions will be included in the ACM Digital Library.

==Doctoral Colloquium==

The doctoral colloquium (DC) will provide a friendly, supportive, and
constructive atmosphere where PhD students can present their
research-in-progress for an open discussion, guided by a panel of
experienced researchers and practitioners. The colloquium offers
students the valuable opportunity to receive feedback and perspectives
from recognized experts in the field, and to engage with senior
doctoral students.

Applicants should be far enough into their PhD to have a concrete
proposal, and have initially outlined the salient issues and proposed
research methodology. Preference will be given to applicants who have
ample time before thesis submission to incorporate feedback received
at the colloquium.

The DC will be a seminar-style event taking place the day before the
UbiComp main sessions. Time will be allotted to each student not only
for their research presentation, but also for careful, in-depth
consideration and constructive discussion amongst the panelists and DC
participants. In order to provide such individual attention, the
number of accepted DC participants will be limited to a maximum of
fifteen.
