Audio in Place: Media, Mobility and HCI - MobileHCI 2016 Workshop, 6th September, Florence, Italy.
http://mobilehci.acm.org/2016/

This Mobile HCI<http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=http%3A%2F%2Fmobilehci.acm.org%2F2016%2F&t=MGEzY2JlZmY5ZDk0YWEzNTgyZjM4NjI1YzFlNjAzMWY0OGI2MzQwZixUbU4zdWpESg%3D%3D> workshop examines the interplay between people, place, technology, mobility and media (audio-based). Now more than ever people are able to access content “on the go”, arguably one of the most prominent modes of content delivery is via audio. While in the past Mobile HCI has examined sonically enhanced interaction we look beyond the device and interactional mechanisms in order to fully appreciate and understand the ways that audio can be used to interpret, present and understand place as part of mobile interaction. Moving beyond notions of ‘the device’ participants will be actively encouraged to engage with other workshop attendees to explore concepts such as; narrative, curation, place, landscape, location, context and temporality and the way that these might be employed and unpacked in respect to both engaging with and make meaning for mobile users.
Workshop candidates are requested to send a paper (4 pages - excluding references - in the Extended Abstracts template (landscape)<http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sigchi.org%2Fpublications%2Fchipubform%2Fsigchi-extended-abstracts-format-2016%2Fview&t=NDZkYTJhYWViMjQ1NThmMDIzYmRjNmNmNDZmYTc3MmY2MDkzYzM2MyxUbU4zdWpESg%3D%3D>) to the workshop organizers based on their research topic – this may also be a position piece, or a demonstrator that may be used in the field by workshop participants, equally audio-pieces may be submitted that relate to the mobile theme of the workshop e.g. located/mobile soundscapes (must be accompanied by the 4 pages).
Participants will be chosen based on the relevance of their work and interest to other workshop participants. Due to the limited time, there will be a mixture of presentations, posters and demos. At least one author of accepted papers needs to register for the workshop and for the conference itself.
Papers should be submitted to: [log in to unmask]<http://t.umblr.com/redirect?z=mailto%3Alocativesound%40gmail.com&t=ODZiM2Y5YTc1M2Y4OThhNTY1ZjBlZTQ2OGJlNThlMmYxYTQxZWMxZSxUbU4zdWpESg%3D%3D>
