Dear CHI Community,
It is time to nominate your HCI colleagues for ACM Awards. I know this is
hard and time consuming - but it SO VALUABLE. Winning these awards makes
people feel good, boosts their careers, and helps to further establish the
value of HCI in the ACM world. There are a lot of ACM Awards, but I think
the two most important ones to consider are the Distinguished Members (
http://awards.acm.org/distinguished-members/nominations - deadline Aug 1)
and ACM Fellows (http://awards.acm.org/fellows/nominations - deadline Sept
7).
With this note I also ask that if you are nominating anyone for an ACM
award, to please let me know who you are nominating and who the endorsers
are (when you know). I will keep this confidential, but letting me
informally track this enables me to identify opportunities (e.g., recognize
people that haven’t been nominated that ought to be), conflicts or
oversubscribed endorsers, and track trends over time. Just email me at <my
last name>@umd.edu.
