Symposium on Smart Environment Technologies will be held in the frame of
the 21st International Conference on Software, Telecommunications and
Computer Networks (SoftCOM 2013), technically co-sponsored by the IEEE
Communication Society (ComSoc), in attractive ambience of Split and
Primosten on September 18-20, 2013.
Recent advances in areas like pervasive computing, machine learning,
wireless and sensor networking enable various smart environment applications
in everyday life. The main goal of this symposium is to present and discuss
recent advances in technologies, architectures, algorithms and protocols for
smart environments with emphasis on real smart environment applications.
We cordially invite speakers who wish to present original papers on the
following subjects, but not limited to:
- Smart environments, Smart buildings, Smart cities
- Ambient intelligence and assisted living
- Smart devices and intelligent products
- Environmental control systems
- Context awareness
- Ubiquitous/Pervasive computing
- Wireless sensor networks

- Low power sensing and ambient energy harvesting

- Applications: assisted living, elderly care, patient monitoring,
home safety, energy efficiency, entertainment, multimedia, smart
classrooms, smart cars...
Papers should conform to the IEEE format and will be handled and processed
electronically via EDAS Conference Management System.

Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings and
indexed in IEEE Xplore.
Authors of all accepted Symposium papers will be invited to submit
extended version of their manuscripts for possible publication in
the Special issue on Smart Environments in the Journal of Communications
Software and Systems - JCOMSS, indexed in Scopus.
