Open Call: Funded Artist-In-Residency for VR/AR Arts, Hanayng University
(Seoul, Korea)

Department of Arts & Technology at Hanyang University (Seoul, South Korea)
seeks an artist/technologist who works in their art practices with virtual
reality and/or augmented reality. The department consists of five
professors (Psychology, Design, Music, Systems Engineering and Computer
Engineering) and 16 master students who are working on how arts can be
resolved in engineering excellence and how technologies can provoke the way
artists develop their creative artworks.

For this three-months Artist-in-Residency Program (AiRP), the artist to be
invited does not need to be an expert in VR/AR systems, but a basic
understanding is helpful. Working with the master students the VR/AR arts
can enhance their research scopes, but also the artist her/himself grasps a
new way of artistic expression. Any disciplines from arts (fine art,
design, sculpture, music performance, dance, and so forth) are welcomed.

The department will provide a work space, facilitation in the center of
Seoul, and access to appropriate resources (VR cave, HMD, 12 meter-wide
sensor-based wall screen, semi-transparent display, motion detect camera
and so forth) as the project progresses. It does not provide housing or
work visas, and is for the artist only. It does not include family members.

This three-month residency comes with a modest stipend of $8,000, and
assistance, if necessary in supplying a letter of intent to any external
funding agencies that might facilitate with the residency.

Applicants must submit a proposal by email [log in to unmask] by 15 August,
2017. Your proposal should tell us who you are, what your project idea is,
and how you plan to implement it. It should also include the skills you
have, and the skills you require for the project. Where there are skills
required which you do not have or cannot supply, please let us know.

Other enquires are directed to Prof. Hokyoung Ryu ([log in to unmask]) and
