MINITRACK DESCRIPTION
---------------------------------?
There is an ongoing and accelerating move to provide medical healthcare outside of traditional healthcare settings, both for reasons of financial expediency (reducing visits to hospital and primary care physicians and facilitating earlier discharge) and improving patients’ quality of life. One of the most radical shifts that has happened can be seen in the deployment of small mobile and/ or wearable medical devices that can be operated by users and home-based carers, although with variations in the extent of device and therapeutic management across users and medical practitioners. Some of these involve complex data interpretation and physical placement which makes their design and organizational deployment particularly interesting and problematic.

This move away from the hospital as a site for operating medical technology has a huge number of implications around how best to achieve this radical change to the use of medical devices, ranging from the design of device interfaces to the training of users to make effective use of the technology. We are seeking novel papers in this increasingly important area of healthcare provision.
