IWIPS 2006 - Call for Papers
8th International Workshop on Internationalization of Products and Systems
13-15.July.2006 - University of Kansas - Lawrence, Kansas - USA
Submission Deadline Extended: 28 February 2006

Product Developers, Global Marketing Managers, Globalization and Localization Experts, Researchers, Academics, Interaction Designers, Industrial Designers, Human Factors, and Usability Specialists.

Our theme for 2006 is "the role of design [research, education, and practice] in international product development." In addition to the presentation of papers and case studies, as well as the availability of tutorials, the workshop provides a venue for meetings, discussion of results and cooperation at an international level. The Workshop is organized to maximize the exchange of information and ideas among a delegation from across the globe. Participants will leave with more knowledge and skills in the area of product and software internationalization, and a network of colleagues who are focused on the issues that globalization creates for the design and production of products and systems.

We encourage you to share your leading edge experiences with "the role of design [research, education, and practice] in international product development." 

In line with the theme, we invite submissions in the following categories:

- Design Research - effective theories, methods and approaches for
  multi-cultural product design and usability. 
- Design Education - evolution in the curriculum, topics of emphasis
  in the academia, and challenges presented by the demands of the
  global market. 
- Design Practice - innovation in international products and systems,
  design integration in product development process and organizational

Papers, Case Studies, Organizational and Academic Overviews may include:

- Frameworks and methodologies for international product development
- User interface internationalization
- Theory, methods, and assessment techniques for product and system
- Case studies: Experience of developing and applying internationalization
  in industry
- Policies, strategies and trends in globalization and design
- Education issues for global product design 

Papers should describe the problems addressed, lessons learned and the nature of the contribution (e.g., theory, method, tools, experience).

All submissions will be electronic. They are to be sent following the Author Guidelines in .RTF format, zipped, as attachments to e-mail, to [log in to unmask], with the subject line "IWIPS 2006 Submission".
