V-CROWDS 2008
Second International Workshop on Virtual Crowds
Playa del Carmen, Mexico
January 7, 2008

http://rudomin.cem.itesm.mx/%7Erudomin/INTETAIN2008VCROWDS.htm

Description:

Large crowds of characters are not very common in virtual environments, mainly because their simulation and rendering
demands intensive processing resources. Similarly, videogames have been limited to crowds of only a few thousand characters.
When a single processor must be used to manage every aspect of a videogame or a virtual environment, resources are usually
drawn towards more critical and less demanding tasks, making the use of large crowds an unaffordable luxury for most applications.
Several approaches to overcoming these limitations have been researched. This workshop will explore techniques for specifying and
accelerating the simulation and rendering of large crowds. V-CROWDS 2008 follows V-CROWDS 2005, which was organized by
Daniel Thalmann in Lausanne, Switzerland (http://vrlab.epfl.ch/v_crowds_05/).

Location:

This workshop will be held within INTETAIN 2008 (http://www.intetain.org/ ), in Playa del Carmen, Mexico
The workshop will take place on Jan 7 while the main conference will take place Jan 8-10 2008. V-CROWDS 2008 will
be of interest to researchers in crowd simulation and animation, and to game programmers interested in games that
include crowd simulation.
