ECCE 2017 is the 35th annual conference of the European Association of
Cognitive Ergonomics. This leading conference in human-technology
interaction and cognitive engineering provides an opportunity for both
researchers and practitioners to exchange new ideas and practical
experiences from a variety of domains.

The conference will include two keynote speakers. Kia Höök, Royal
Institute of Technology, Sweden, will speak about “Designing with the
Body - Somaesthetic Interaction Design”. Kris Luyten, Hasselt
University, Belgium, will give a talk entitled “Making the invisible
visible again - toward intelligible interfaces for all”.

We invite various types of contributions, which address the broad
spectrum of challenges in the analysis, design, and evaluation of
digital technologies. This includes, but is not limited to, the
following topics:

· Design methods, tools, and methodologies for supporting cognitive tasks
· Affective/emotional aspects of human interaction with IT artefacts
· Motivation, engagement, and goal sharing
· Ecological approaches to human cognition and human-technology interaction
· Human-technology interaction in the Internet of Things era
· User research concepts, methods, and empirical studies
· Cognitive processes in design
· Collaborative creativity and experience
· Collaboration in design teams
· Cognitive task analysis and modelling
· Methods and tools for studying cognitive tasks
· Decision aiding, information presentation and visualization
· Human Factors and simulation
· Trust and control in complex systems
· Situation awareness
· Human error and reliability
· Resilience and diversity

GENERAL SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
All submissions should be written in English and be anonymous. All
submissions fulfilling the submission requirements will be
peer-reviewed, and accepted papers will be published in the conference
proceedings, which will be made available in the ACM digital library.

Detailed formatting instructions and templates are available on the
2017 ACM Master Article Template page:
http://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template. Sample files for
Microsoft Word can also be found on the ECCE 2017 website
(http://ecce2017.eace.net , “Submissions”).

Long paper, short paper, and poster/ demonstration submissions should
be made through the EasyChair Reviewing System:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ecce20170

TYPES OF SUBMISSIONS
Long papers (max. 8 pages including references) should describe
original, completed research work that contributes to the conference
topics.

Short papers (max. 4 pages including references) may describe
work-in-progress, practical experiences, and innovative concepts or
approaches, which can promote discussion.

Poster and demonstration papers, up to 2 pages (including references),
should explain the work to be presented, how it will be presented, and
the relevance of the presentation to conference attendees.

Workshops will be held on September 19, 2017, before the main program
of the conference starts. The format provides an opportunity for a
group of participants to focus on an important issue of mutual
interest. Proposals for workshops (max. 4 pages, including references)
should be submitted by email to the program chairs, Victor Kaptelinin
([log in to unmask]) and Gerrit van der Veer ([log in to unmask]).

Doctoral consortium, which will be held on September 19, 2017, before
the main program of the conference starts, provides an invaluable
opportunity for Ph. D. students to present and discuss their work with
international experts in a stimulating and safe environment. Doctoral
consortium applications, including a two-page summary of Ph. D. work
and one-page CV, should be submitted by email to the Doctoral
Consortium Coordinator Robyn Schimmer
([log in to unmask]). ECCE 2017.

LOCATION
ECCE 2017 will be organized in Umeå, a city in Northern Sweden, where
beautiful nature meets rich culture and vibrant academic life
(https://www.visitumea.se/en). The city, which was selected as the
European Capital of Culture in 2014, is the home of a major Swedish
university with a strong history of human-technology interaction
research and excellent conference facilities and creative environments.

CONFERENCE COMMITTEE
General Chairs: Rikard Harr and Helena Lindgren
