* April 26 or April 27 (TBD): Workshop held.
Call for Participation
===================
Technology increasingly plays a role in the ways that we plan for, encounter, and deal with major life events. These major life events are varied and include milestones such as graduations, residential moves, new parenthood, starting a new job, engagement, marriage, divorce, retirement, and the end of life, among others. This one-day workshop at CHI 2014 will address the ways that people appropriate (or avoid!) technology during times that their lives are undergoing major changes, with an emphasis on (a) identifying themes across research sites and projects, and (b) learning how to best design technologies appropriate for/across these events.
We invite 2-4 page submissions in the CHI Extended Abstracts format that describe ongoing research efforts addressing technology and its relationship to a major life event. Submissions need not be completed research, but should be able to describe insights and challenges associated with studying technology usage during these events, or designing technology that is robust and sensitive to the circumstances associated with these events. Submissions will be selected based on originality, quality, and ability to promote discussion during the workshop.

Submissions and questions should be directed to Michael Massimi ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) by January 17, 2014. At least one author from each accepted paper must register and attend the workshop and at least one day of the ACM CHI 2014 conference.
