Workshop: CSCW meets Industry 4.0 - Emerging Challenges for the Field of Computer Supported Cooperative Work

Conference: European Conference on Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (ECSCW '18): The International Venue on Practice-centred Computing and the Design of Cooperation Technologies (http://ecscw2018.loria.fr/, 4th-8th June, 2018)

Date: 5th June 2018

Location: Nancy, France

Organizers: Thomas Ludwig (University of Siegen), Sven Hoffmann (University of Siegen), Myriam Lewkowicz (Troyes University of Technology), Aparecido Fabiano Pinatti de Carvalho (University of Siegen), Martin Stein (University of Siegen), Christoph Kotthaus (University of Siegen)

Deadline for Submissions: 14th May, 2018

Scope of the Workshop
This workshop focusses on challenges of cooperative or collaborative work in emerging Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) or Industry 4.0 settings. We will critically reflect how existing CSCW concepts as well as commonly used research methods can be applied to new forms of labor enabled by networked infrastructures, e.g. within manufacturing settings. Workshop activities will invite participants (researchers, members of industry and community organizations) to work together in exploring and discussing new and old challenges of CSCW in this context. Further the workshop's aim is depicting a CSCW-agenda for research in the context of Industry 4.0 settings, including potential transformations of existing CSCW concepts.

Sample Topics
We invite designers, researchers and industry practitioners interested in participating to submit a 2-4 page position papers. Possible topics include (but are not limited to):

· Empirical studies about worker roles and digitalization of work practices

· Conceptualization of cooperative work in the Industry 4.0

· Design of human-centered cyber-physical systems

· Methodological challenges and innovative methodologies for the design of human-centered cyber-physical systems

· ICT-driven new forms of labor

· Ethical, legal and social issues related to Industry 4.0

· Design challenges for awareness, coordination and cooperation within "systems of systems"

· Inter-organizational collaboration enabled by networked infrastructures, integrated sensors and new interaction modalities (e.g. Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality)
The template can be downloaded as RTF, MS Word or Latex (http://ecscw2018.loria.fr/workshops/). Authors should send submissions to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> in .pdf format not later than May, 14th, 2018.
Position papers will be reviewed by the organizers based on relevance to the workshop and the potential for stimulating discussions on the research agenda to be developed during the workshop.
