Call for Chapters: Handbook on Smart Textiles and Textile Electronics

The Handbook on Smart Textiles and Textile Electronics aims to integrate the knowledge of different fields and serve as foundation to students, researchers, and practitioners. A bottom up approach is taken to assess the smart textiles implementation and applications. The book is divided into four parts. The first part focuses on the history and origins of smart textiles. Moreover, wearable electronics for smart textiles are included in the first part. The second part derives the foundations of textile electronics, including textile fabrication processes, textile finishing, and the design and development of textile-based sensors. In this category sensors and sensing principles used in smart textiles are covered as well as electronics deposition, interconnection, and actuation. Finally, algorithms adapted for interpreting smart textile sensor data such as in activity recognition and gesture detection are discussed. The third part focuses on the development process of smart textiles. Guidelines for designing smart textiles and smart textiles prototyping are covered. In addition, the part will feature contributions on fashion design of smart textiles. In the fourth part, applications of smart textiles will be featured that support the user in their daily life. Topics include but are not limited to implicit and explicit interaction concepts, development process, as well as evaluation of smart textile prototypes.
