CALL FOR ORGANIZERS – IUI2012

About IUI

IUI is the annual meeting of the intelligent
interfaces community and serves as the principal
international forum for reporting outstanding
research and development on intelligent user
interfaces. The conference is sponsored by ACM
and has been held in its current format annually since 1997.

Request for Proposals

IUI requests proposals for organizing the 2012
edition of the conference. The conference will
take place in the January/February 2012
timeframe. Proposals have an open format and
organizers are free to structure them as they
feel appropriate. Nevertheless, the following
information should be included in each proposal.
· Key members of the organizing committee
with at minimum one proposed General Conference
chair and one proposed Program Chair.
· Proposed location with support
information or data as to what makes the location ideal.
· Any institutional support that may be available to the conference.

· A general statement on how the proposed
team and location will benefit the field of IUI and its community.

Support for Organizers

IUI is fully sponsored by ACM and organizers are
volunteers who need not incur financial or
contractual obligations. In addition, IUI
provides extensive support for conference website
creation, online reviewing system, and corporate
knowledge on past editions. Organizers can freely
assume that all these support items will be fully available to them.

Criteria for Selection

The following criteria will be used for selection.
· Quality and experience of the
organizing team especially in its ability to
produce a top-quality, competitive scientific program.
· Suitability of the location. IUI gives
preference to locations with a temperate or warm
climate for the January/February timeframe. In
addition, IUI rotates location cyclically across
the various continents. For 2012, preference will
be given to locations in the European continent.

· Other factors that IUI may find
reasonable to consider. IUI strongly prefers, but
it is not required, to choose among the proposals
received. Proposals are free to indicate whether
their proposal, if not selected, can nevertheless
be considered for a subsequent conference edition.
