MIDI 2013, WARSAW, POLAND:: Multimedia-Interaction-Design-Innovation

** CALL FOR CONFERENCE PAPERS ** (Due 8 April, 2013)

   (apologies for cross-posting)

:: MIDI 2013: Multimedia-Interaction-Design-Innovation ::

24-25 June 2013, Warsaw (Poland)

http://www.midi.pjwstk.edu.pl

** CONFERENCE AIM AND SCOPE

During the past years, innovative design approaches and new technologies
brought a tremendous change in the way in which people interact with
computers. Integration of multimedia and innovative on-line services is a
stimulus to explore how these changes might open new perspectives for
Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and leverage cross-domain synergy in
interaction design and research.

MIDI Conference is organized by the Polish-Japanese Institute of Information
Technology (PJWSTK) in Warsaw, Poland. This conference continues the
tradition of "Kansei - User Interface Design" Seminars organized annually
since 2006, and aims at being a leading, cross-disciplinary HCI-related
scientific event in Central Europe.

MIDI Conference provides an interdisciplinary forum for academics,
designers, developers and practitioners to discuss the challenges and
opportunities for enriching human interaction with digital products and
services -- including technology, business, entertainment and art, whatever
connects the human user and any type of digital technology.

The conference will have two main streams covering:

(1) full papers (up to 8 pages), presenting research results, insightful
surveys of methodologies or validated concepts of novel interaction
paradigms and applications;

2) short papers (up to 4 pages) presenting selected development aspects of
Human-Computer Interaction, ideas that are not yet fully developed or
work-in-progress, intended for further refinement.

Additional tutorials and workshops will be also included in the conference
program.

** TOPICS OF INTEREST

MIDI Conference invites submissions on all topics related to
cross-disciplinary, innovative design of interactions between humans and
digital products of any type - hardware, software, services, games and art.

We welcome submissions that include, but are not limited to, any of the
following topics:

INTERACTION DESIGN:

-- human-centred design practices, methods and tools, user interface design,
usability, accessibility, user-centred design of e-services, Kansei
engineering and User Experience

INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA and MULTIMODAL INTERACTION:

-- novel interaction techniques, voice interfaces, interactive multimedia,
Augmented/Virtual Reality, ubiquitous, multimodal, pervasive and mobile
interaction, wearable computing, new devices and sensors, novel information
visualization and presentation

INTERACTION in SERVICES DESIGN:

-- unfolding trends in HCI research and practice, user experience, customer
experience, Service Design, user participation and co-design

INNOVATION and CREATIVITY:

-- innovations in design, e-business and e-services, expanding novel forms
of interaction through ideas, social networks, technology, systems and tools

-- new forms of collaboration, groupware, teamwork, management and strategy
in research and design organizations

NOVEL HCI METHODOLOGIES:

-- understanding people and interactions: theory, concepts and methods,
contextual, ethnographical and field studies

-- application, critique and evolution of methods, processes, theories and
tools

LAST-MINUTE REPORTS and CASE STUDIES

-- work-in-progress and pilot studies, latest projects and case studies.

MIDI Conference is an unique opportunity to bring together in one place
researchers and practitioners working in diverse areas of interaction
design, in various institutions ranging from IT systems and services
development to interactive games and media design for business,
advertisement, arts or entertainment.

In order to provide conditions for establishing intensive personal contacts
and stimulating high-quality, lively discussions, it is planned that this
conference will be attended by up to about 70 participants.

Warsaw is a vibrant, modern city, remembering its rich history: social
programme of the conference will offer excellent opportunities to expand
participants' experience with the variety of attractions the city has to
offer.

** SUBMISSION and PUBLICATION

All submissions will be peer-reviewed by an international panel of leading
researchers:

-- best papers will be accepted to the main conference proceedings, in
cooperation with the ACM, and will be published in the ACM Digital Library;

-- accepted short papers (work-in-progress, industrial experiences and case
studies) will be published by the PJWSTK in a separate volume of short
papers as on-line proceedings with an ISBN in Open Access under Creative
Commons license and indexing in Google Scholar and DBLP Computer Science
Bibliography.

The papers should be submitted using the template downloadable from the
conference website.
