                              MobileResponse 2007

International Workshop on Mobile Information Technology for Emergency
Response

February 22-23.2007, Fraunhofer Campus, Sankt Augustin, Germany

                           http://www.mobile-response.de

Call for Papers for the MobileResponse 2007 International Workshop on
Mobile Information
Technology for Emergency Response

Scope

Emergency and disaster situations require fast action on the part of
rescue teams, who vitally depend on efficient communication and optimized
rescue planning. Mobile information services such as digital communication
technology and multimedia information systems can make emergency response
management easier and more flexible. However, this potential has not yet
been realized. During largescale rescue operations communication takes
place via analog half-duplex radio. Rescue planning is conducted with
conventional planning tools such as magnetic boards, paper forms and fax
messages. The workshop will present the latest approaches and technical
solutions in the area of mobile information technology for emergency
response planning and execution. Participation from research, industry and
public rescue organizations will allow an in-depth discussion of the
opportunities and drawbacks of new digital technologies for emergency
response.

Workshop Topics

• Mobile Information Services
• Mobile and Wearable Computing
• Interaction Design: Multimodality, Speech Technology, Voice Dialogue Design
• Mobile Voice and Video Communication Technology
• Multimedia Indexing and Retrieval
• Rescue Operation Management and Decision Support Systems
• Knowledge Management (e.g. ontologies)
• Geographic Information Systems and Location-based Services
• Requirements, Design and Evaluation of ICT for Emergency Response
