-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More at: http://care.cs.columbia.edu/chi2013health/
Our workshop will engage researchers, clinicians, designers, and engineers in issues surrounding technology to promote synchronous patient–clinician communication. We plan to address this critical research area in the following ways:
* Identify emerging technologies that can support different facets of communication in clinical encounters.
* Discuss outcomes that can be measured with novel technologies.
* Explore the sociocultural context for using and evaluating novel technologies.
* Discuss impact on clinical workflows and practices.
* Construct a roadmap for HCI research in this domain.
To participate, we ask applicants to submit a 3-page position paper in the ACM CHI Extended Abstracts format that includes:
(1) Your background, interests, and areas of related work.
(2) A technology that you imagine to be well-suited to enhancing patient–clinician communication and a description of the communicative goals it addresses.
* Please submit your 3-page paper (in PDF format) by January 11th, 2013 as an attachment to: [log in to unmask]
* Notification of acceptance will be sent by February 8th, 2013. Accepted papers will be shared with workshop participants and on the website: http://care.cs.columbia.edu/chi2013health/
* All workshop participants must register for both the workshop and for at least one day of the main conference. For some early indication on prices, please refer to last year's workshop & conference pricing: http://chi2012.acm.org/registration.shtml.
