KEYNOTE SPEECH

---------------

"Behavior Mining in Wikipedia"

Dr Ee-Peng Lim, Professor, Singapore Management University

In the age of Web2.0, users are expected to collaborate extensively to
create and share content, to rate objects, to share comments and to carry
out a wide range of other tasks. This talk will be based upon Wikipedia,
the largest online encyclopedia collaboratively authored by millions of
users. We will describe some interesting research on mining user and article
behaviors from the collaboration dynamics among users as users interact with
one another and with the Wikipedia articles. These behavior knowledge can
be extremely useful in designing new applications and improving the existing
ones. As part of our soc

ial network mining research, we have studied how Wikipedia articles and
users' goodness and controversialness can be discovered from the
interactions among them, and how these behaviors can be utilized in search
and visualization applications.
