3nd International ICST Conference on Autonomic Computing and
Communication Systems

Technology, Limassol, Cyprus http://www.cut.ac.cy

***** Call for Workshop Proposals *****

The ICST Autonomics 2009 Organizing Committee invites proposals for
the Workshop Program to be held on September 9-11 within the main
technical conference.
Autonomics 2009 workshops will provide a meeting for presenting novel
ideas in a less formal and possibly more focused way than the
conference itself. Its aim is to stimulate and facilitate active
exchange, interaction, and comparison of approaches, methods, and
ideas related to specific topics, both theoretical and applied, in the
general area of Autonomic Computing and Communication Systems.
Members from all areas of the Autonomics community are invited to
submit workshop proposals for review. Workshops on new and emerging
topics, or on applications, are particularly encouraged.

Workshops can vary in length, but most will be one full day in
duration. Workshop organizers and attendees are expected to register
both for their workshop and the main Autonomics conference.

Workshop proceedings will be published by LNICST (Springer Verlang).

****** Important Dates for Workshops *******

* April 15, 2009 - Proposal Submission Deadline
* April 20, 2009 - Acceptance Notification
* April 25 2009 - Deadline for Posting Workshops Call for Papers

Proposal Submission Information

Proposals for workshops should be a maximum of 4 pages in length, and
should contain the following information:

* Title of the workshop.
* A brief technical description of the workshop, specifying the
workshop goals, the technical issues that it will address, and the
relevance of the workshop to the main conference.
* A discussion of why and to whom the workshop is of interest.
* Information about previous offerings of the proposed workshop: when
and where it has been offered in the past, organizers names and
affiliations, number of submissions, acceptances and registered
attendees.
* A preliminary schedule for organizing the workshop. This should
include a brief description of how the organizers intend to encourage
an atmosphere appropriate for a workshop.
* Description of paper review process and acceptance standards.
* If available, a list of tentatively confirmed attendees.
* The names, affiliations, postal addresses, phone numbers, and email
addresses of the proposed workshop organizing committee. This
committee should consist of at least two people knowledgeable about
the technical issues to be addressed. The organizing committee should
include individuals from multiple institutions.
* The name of the primary contact for the workshop organizing committee.
* A description of the qualifications of the individual committee
members with respect to organizing a Autonomics workshop, including a
list of workshops previously arranged by any members of the proposed
organizing committee, if any.
* List of potential program committee members, including their title
and affiliations.
* Expected duration of the workshop (half or full day).
* A list of places (distribution lists, web sites, journals, etc.)
where the workshop is planned to be advertised.

All proposals should be submitted by electronic mail, to the
Autonomics 2009 Workshops Chairs:

in plain ASCII text, as soon as possible but no later than: April 15,
2009

Prospective organizers will be notified of the committee's decision no
later than: April 20, 2009
The selection of the workshops to be included in the final Autonomics
2009 Workshop program will be based upon multiple factors, including:
the scientific/technical interest of the topics, the quality of the
proposal, balance and distinctness of workshop topics, and the
capacity of the conference workshop program. Note that authors of
proposals addressing similar and/or overlapping content areas and/or
audiences may be requested to merge their proposals.

Responsibilities of Autonomics 2009 and Workshop Organizers

For all accepted proposals, Autonomics 2009 will be responsible for:

* Providing publicity for the workshop series as a whole.
* Providing logistic support and a meeting place for the workshop.
* Together with the organizers, determining the workshop date and time.
* Duplicating working notes and distributing them to the participants.

Workshop organizers will be responsible for the following:

* Setting up a web site for the workshop.
* Advertising the workshop and issuing a call for papers
* Collecting and evaluating submissions, notifying authors of
acceptance or rejection on a timely basis, and ensuring a transparent
and fair selection process.
* Ensuring that the workshop organizers and the participants register
to the workshop and to the main conference (at least one author must
register for both the workshop and the conference for the paper to
appear in the workshop notes and ACM post-proceedings).
* Prepare ACM post-proceedings including revised versions of papers
(Deadlines to be communicated in due time)

Autonomics reserves the right to cancel any workshop if the above
responsibilities are not fulfilled, or if too few attendees register
for the workshop to support its running costs.
