Reminder: IEEE ICMCS99 deadline is November 5th.

ELEMENTS OF INTEREST AT IEEE ICMCS99:

SPECIAL SESSIONS - for invitation only - on key research and activity areas
of Multimedia.
Special Sessions include the Session Chair introduction on the state of the
art and
invited talks by distinguished scientists, followed by an open discussion.
Special Sessions that have been scheduled are:
- Special Session on Multimedia Standards
- Special Session on Usable Multimedia Systems
- Special Session on Storage Technologies
- Special Session on Software Engineering tools
- Special Session on Data Security and Watermarking
- Special Session on Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision for Multimedia

Best papers presented at IEEE ICMCS99 will appear in two Special Issues in
IEEE MULTIMEDIA and JOURNAL OF MULTIMEDIA TOOLS AND APPLICATIONS.

REGULAR SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS
Best submitted papers will be selected for inclusion in the Conference
program -
three independent reviews - according to high quality standards. Regular
Sessions
will cover, among others:
- Network and operating system support
- Advanced man-machine interfacing
- Internet and Intranet
- Image, video and multimedia databases
- Signal processing and Multimedia
- Image processing, pattern recognition and computer vision for Multimedia
- Multimedia architectures
- Multimedia tools
- Multimedia standards
- Multimedia applications

PANEL DISCUSSIONS AND DEMONSTRATIONS focussed on specific relevant topics
of Multimedia
Panels include  short position statements of panelists and an open
discussion.
Demonstrations will present up-to-date results and achievements of team
activities.

EXHIBITION of special achievements by the scientific and industry
community. Multimedia art exhibition is also planned.

TUTORIALS on some of the most important topics of Multimedia.
Half-day tutorials will be given by some of most distinguished scientists
in the field of Multimedia.

THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY DAY dedicated to European Community programs on
Multimedia.
Organized with the support of the European Community and the Agency for
Technological
Development and Transfer. Includes invited talks by European Community
officers on future industry-research programs and presentations of European
projects  in the field of Multimedia.

monuments of western
civilization from Etruscans, Romans through Middle Age, Renaissance to the
Modern Age.
