Final reports due: July 7, 2006

OVERVIEW

This year's ACM Symposium on Software Visualization (SOFTVIS'06) will
host a software visualization challenge. The SOFTVIS Challenge brings
together researchers and practitioners who are interested in applying,
comparing, and challenging their software visualization tools and
approaches on software repositories for two common open source projects
Mozilla (C,C++) and Eclipse (Java). The data sources of both open source
projects are available online and can be downloaded from the projects
web sites:
http://www.mozilla.org/
http://www.eclipse.org/

PARTICIPATION

Participating in the challenge is straight forward:

     1. Select one of the two OSS projects
     2. Get the project data
     3. Apply your visualization tool
     4. Write up and submit your challenge report presenting your most
        interesting findings

SUBMISSION DETAILS

The challenge report describes the results of your work. The report
should cover the following aspects: underlying theory (preferably with
references to your previous work or related work), description of the
tool used, visualization and derived results, and conclusions. Reports
should not exceed one US Letter size page and be in ACM 2-columns
format. Authors should prepare and electronically submit a PDF version
of their challenge report following the instructions for authors of
conferences sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH.

Report submission is via email to: [log in to unmask]

Reports are due on June 23, 2006 (Apia Time). Each report will undergo a
thorough review and accepted challenge reports will be published in the
ACM digital library as part of the SOFTVIS 2006 proceedings. The authors
of accepted papers will be invited to give a presentation and live demo
on-site at the SOFTVIS conference in the special SOFTVIS Challenge
track. The best presentation (according to the vote of the audience)
will be awarded.
