*Laboratory*: SBRI (INSERM/University Lyon 1), Lyon, France
*Department*: Cortical Networks for Cognitive Interaction
*Duration*: 12 months (starting as soon as possible)
*Topic*: Investigation of human-robot interaction using a super Wizard
of Oz platform
In the frame of the SWoOZ ANR French national project, the Cortical
Networks for Cognitive Interaction team of the Stem-cell and Brain
Research Institute invites applicants interested in a postdoctoral
position that focuses on issues related to human robot interaction.
We have developed a research platform to control in real-time the
(humanoid robot) iCub's movements from a confederate's movements. This
platform is used as a super Wizard of Oz setup (SWoOZ) to study
human-robot interaction. Naive subjects can interact with the humanoid
robot thinking it is completely autonomous whereas in fact it is
controlled in real-time by a confederate (the wizard). Manipulations can
be applied to any specific robot behavior in real-time, for instance
damping head movements, while preserving intact the rest of the
behaviors. The importance of each manipulation can be investigated
parametrically.
The successful candidate will participate in developing new paradigms of
human-robot interaction with the SWoOZ platform and in conducting
human-robot interaction experiments. There will also be the opportunity
to extend these behavioral methods to brain imaging (EEG, fMRI).
The ideal candidate will have (1) a PhD degree in Robotics, Cognitive
Sciences or a related field and (2) experience in conducting human-robot
and/or human-avatar interaction research. Experience with fMRI and/or
EEG would be a plus. Fluency and solid writing skills in English are
expected.
Interested candidates should send their CV with a full list of
publications and a statement of research interests (1-2 pages) to
