INTERACT '99 is now a month away. If you're not already one of the 400+ registered delegates, you should act now to reserve a place at the last major international celebration of HCI this millennium.
You won't want to miss:
** Keynotes by Karen Holtzblatt (Customer-Centred Design as Discipline), Roy Kalawski (New Generation Virtual Reality), Brian Gaines (HCI in the next millennium: supporting the world mind), Veronique de Keyser (Understanding Cognitive Complexity), Johanna Moore (Conversations with Applications) and Joy Mountford (What and how should we design?).
** Twenty-one paper sessions on topics such as Mobile Systems, E-business, Haptics, Accessibility, Healthcare Informatics, among others.
** A special "Industry Day" on Wednesday, 1 September, with twelve industrially-focused presentations ranging from Iris Verification (NCR) to Design Methods for Telephone-Based User Interfaces (Nokia).
** Fifteen tutorials, five workshops, panels, videos, posters, lab overviews, an "Interactive Experience", videos, site visits.
** A full social programme including a Scottish ceilidh with traditional Scottish dancing and the Conference Dinner in the stunning National Museum of Scotland in the centre of medieval Edinburgh.
** The Edinburgh International Arts Festival which runs before, and concurrently with, the conference.
