OZCHI is the annual conference for the Computer-Human Interaction
Special Interest Group (CHISIG) of the Human Factors and Ergonomics
Society of Australia. It is Australia and New Zealand's leading forum
for work in all areas of Human-Computer Interaction. OZCHI attracts an
international community of researchers and practitioners with a wide
range of interests, including human factors and ergonomics,
human-computer interaction, information systems, design, software
engineering, artificial intelligence, social sciences and management. We
look forward to your involvement at this year’s OZCHI conference.

CONFERENCE TOPICS

We invite contributions on all topics related to Human-Computer
Interaction including technical, empirical and theoretical aspects. In
keeping with the theme Supporting Community Interaction: Possibilities
and challenges', topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

* Designing for community interaction
* Building social capital online
* HCI support for diverse user communities
* Usability for mobile communities
* Computer mediated communication
* Computer supported cooperative work
* Affective user interfaces and emotion
* Supporting the HCI community: methods, tools & techniques
* User studies and fieldwork including ethnographic methods
* Participatory design and cooperative design techniques
* Ubiquitous computing and smart environments
* Augmented reality and tangible interfaces
* Context-aware computing

In addition, contributions that advance the theory or practice of any
aspect of HCI are also welcome.

OTHER SUBMISSIONS

submissions located at: http://www.dsl.uow.edu.au/ozchi2004/submission

SHORT PAPERS and POSTERS provide the opportunity to describe new work or
work that is still in progress. Poster sessions provide an interactive
forum in which authors can present work to conference attendees while
short papers are presented as a 15 minute seminar.

Short paper and posters submission date: 9 August 2004.


DEMONSTRATIONS and VIDEOS of original applications and technologies are
encouraged. Peer reviewed demonstrations and videos show early
implementations of novel, interesting, and important interaction
concepts or interface systems. They can also serve to showcase
commercial products not previously described in the research literature.

Demonstrations and videos should be submitted by 9 August 2004.


PANELS: Proposals for panels are also invited. Panel proposals should
indicate the topic of the panel and the proposed members of the Panel.
Panel proposers should contact the proposed members of the panel and
gain their agreement to participate, prior to submitting a proposal.

Panel proposal submission date: 9 August 2004.


DOCTORAL COLLOQUIUM

The Doctoral Colloquium offers PhD students a special forum where they
will have a chance to present their research plans and discuss them with
their peers and established senior researchers.
