cognitive system, relation between cognitive psychology and
human centered design, UI and interaction model, UX and human
activity, and psychological research methods. I will show
various examples.
** This tutorial is presented in Japanese. **

Tutorial 2:
Sci-Fi and HCI: The Last Hundred Years of the Future.
Aaron Marcus, President, Aaron Marcus and Associates, Inc., Berkeley, California, USA.

ABSTRACT
During the last hundred years, science-fiction (sci-fi) films
and videos depicted detailed views of future human-computer
interaction (HCI) in order to convey a compelling scene and to
move forward the plot. This tutorial explores some of the themes
that emerge from examining this body of work from Europe, the
USA, China, and India. The tutorial concludes that HCI
professionals can learn something from sci-fi media, and sci-fi
media producers could learn more HCI professionals in order to
show smarter views of the future. The tutorial is based on a
keynote lecture delivered at Mensch und Computer, 2011, and is
based on forthcoming articles and a book on this subject.
