Dear all,

Sorry for cross posting.

I would like to share the open call for submission to the Communities & Technologies 2017<http://comtech.community/> “Refugees & HCI Workshop: The Role of HCI in Responding to the Refugee Crisis” to be held in Troyes France on Monday 26th of June. For more details please visit our website https://openlab.ncl.ac.uk/refugeesandhci/ .

Call for Submission:
The different challenges faced by refugee communities and the humanitarian system has instigated a call for technical innovation. Given the versatile nature of refugee contexts this a one day workshop aims to provide a forum for researchers to discuss challenges encountered while engaging with refugee communities and the research methods best fit for conducting research with refugees.
We invite researchers, designers and practitioners interested in participating to submit 2-4 page position papers (SigConf format available at http://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template ). Papers should critically reflect on how the researchers’ research/interest addresses issues faced by refugee communities. Experience reflected on does not have to be specific to work with refugees, however those interested should discuss how lessons learnt and methods used can be adapted and applied to refugee contexts.
Submissions should be sent to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> in .pdf format. Position papers will be reviewed based on relevance to the workshop and the potential for contributing to discussions on methods and the research agenda to be developed during the workshop. At least one co-author of each accepted paper should attend the workshop.
Important Dates:
Final Submission Deadline: 23 April 2017
Final Notification: 28th April 2017
Early-Bird Registration Deadline: 5 May 2017
Camera Ready Deadline: 20 May 2017
Workshop Day: 26th or 27th June 2017

We kindly request you circulate this message.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Best,
Reem Talhouk
Workshop co-organizer
