Workshop at CSCW 2016: 27th February 2016
----------------------------------

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Workshop Website was temporarily down last week, but
is now fixed as of Monday 21st December. If you have uploaded a position
paper before, but have not received a personal confirmation from one of the
organizers, please contact us on [log in to unmask] We
apologize for the inconvenience

DESCRIPTION:
The workshop focuses on the new work ecologies emerging from implementation
and use of information infrastructures in healthcare (IIH). As IIH “grows”
through organizational and regulatory mechanisms, CSCW researchers grapple
with the shifting nature of healthcare data. CSCW has long been concerned
with coordination, cooperation, and communication among interdisciplinary
occupations in healthcare. Yet, while medical record keeping is still a
primary function of IIH, second order data usages are increasingly large
foci of IIH design and use. Facilitating development of health data
practice and infrastructure is an area ripe for CSCW research.

PARTICIPATION:
We invite scholars and practitioners with a variety of backgrounds, who
share an interest in understanding how data are produced, appropriated,
mobilized and interpreted within the context of healthcare technologies and
information infrastructures in healthcare, to submit a position paper on
one or more of the following topics (or related to them):

 re-use of clinical data for second order usages;
 design of artifacts and infrastructures;
 politics of creating and using data;
 algorithmic authority of IIH and effects on the exercise of expertise and
discretion of healthcare professions;
 new forms of healthcare data work, including new occupations;
 data-driven accountability and management in healthcare

SUBMISSION:
Please submit a position paper (from 2 to 4 pages) until 20th December,
2015 in the SigCHI Extended Abstract (see
http://www.sigchi.org/publications/chipubform/sigchi-extended-abstracts-format-2016/view)
through the Workshop Submission Page (
http://projects.au.dk/data-work-in-healthcare/submissions/)

The submissions will be reviewed by the organizers with support of other
researchers forming a dedicated program committee and selected according to
their potential to contribute to the workshop topic and to foster
discussion.

All accepted contributions (notifications will be sent out on the 18th
January, 2016) will be made available on the website to allow participants
to prepare for the workshop. The organizers may consider the publication of
revised versions of accepted papers as part of a special issue in a CSCW
related journal.

ORGANIZERS:
