Call for Internet of Things 2008 Workshops

                     INTERNET OF THINGS 2008

International Conference for Industry and Academia
             March 26-28, 2008, Zurich (Switzerland)
Organized by ETH Zurich, University St. Gallen, and MIT

                  www.internet-of-things-2008.org

We invite proposals for the workshop program of the first International
Conference on Internet of Things. Workshops provide a forum for people
to discuss areas of special interest (e.g. novel services, business
models, technologies, sensing/actuation concepts, security) with
like-minded researchers and practitioners. Workshops aim at examining an
area in a less formal, more open environment for the free exchange of
views, and possibly more focused way than at the main track of the
conference itself. The workshops will be held prior to the main
conference on Wednesday March 26, 2008.

Workshop proposals should include:

 * Name of workshop and proposed URL of site to host CFP, program etc.
 * Theme of the workshop and topics of interest and how these relate
   to the overall conference
 * Preliminary Call for Papers
 * Names, affiliations, research interest, and a short bio (up to 200
   words) of the organizers
 * Brief description (up to 1 page) of research issues that the
   workshop will address
 * Reasons why the workshop is of interest to the conference
   participants
 * Audience: expected number of participants, potential program
   committee members
 * Description of the publicity plan: how to attract participants and
   submissions
 * Planned format: participant selection, time line, type of
contributions, discussions and integration of non-presenting
   participants
 * If appropriate, a description of past versions of the workshop,
including: number of submitted and accepted papers, and number of
   attendees.

Submission Process
------------------
Please email your proposal to <[log in to unmask]>.

Pre-Proposal / Inquiries
------------------------
Contact the workshop chair Florian Michahelles if you would like to
discuss a workshop proposal (email: <[log in to unmask]>).

We solicit workshops in all areas related to the Internet of Things. In
particular we would like to encourage workshops focused on new and
emerging research directions, novel and highly innovative themes
including end-consumer involvement through new concepts of interaction,
real-world industrial and system topics, and interdisciplinary themes.
The workshop proposal should be a maximum of 3 pages.

Workshop Organization
---------------------
We encourage international workshop organizer teams from different
institutions. We aim for a balanced workshop program trying to avoid
overlapping themes. Organizers are expected to be active themselves in
the field where they propose a workshop. Organizers are required to
attend those workshops they are organizing. One free registration per
workshop is given. The information on the free registrant has to be
provided to the Workshop Chair by February 15.Any change to the workshop
organization team must be submitted in writing at least two weeks prior
to the paper deadline for individual workshops (January 15, 2008). No
changes to the workshop organization team can be made after this date to
ensure that potential participants submitting position papers to
workshops are aware of the final organization team. Please feel free to
discuss ideas for a workshop proposal by email with the workshop chair
prior to submission.

We intend to publish successful submissions to all workshops in a single
workshop proceedings handout that will be distributed among the
participants during the event.
