Dear All,

The Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) 2004 will be held in NYC in August. This year, the HCI track has 7 minitracks that accept papers. More information about the HCI Track at AMCIS04 can be found at its website http://melody.syr.edu/hci/amcis04. It is not too late to consider submitting to any of the minitracks. Abstracts to minitrack chairs are optional. The firm deadline for final paper submissions is Feb. 22, 2004.

The 7 minitracks are:

#1. Accessibility (chaired by Eleanor Loiaccono-Mello, Scott McCoy & Nicholas Romano)
#2. Personalization Systems (Il Im)
#3. Pervasive Information Systems (Roxanne Hiltz & Quentin Jones)
#4. IT Implementation and Use: Going Beyond Intentions and Perception (Andrew Schwarz & Wynne W. Chin)
#5. Information Retrieval and Human Language Technologies (Praveen Pathak & dmitri Roussinov)
#6. Emergency Response Information Systems (Murray Turoff & Bartel Van de Walle)
#7. Human-Computer Interaction Studies in MIS (Scott McCoy, Fiona Nah & Ping Zhang)

Some minitracks will participate in a special issue of the International Journal of Human Computer Interaction, to be edited by Fiona Nah, Ping Zhang and Scott McCoy to publish the expansions of the best complete research papers. Other minitracks will have other journals as the final outlets for the best papers.

This year, authors need to set up an acocunt with the AMCIS04 review system in order to submit. The instructions for authors can be found at both the AMCIS04 site http://howe.stevens.edu/amcis2004/ and at the HCI Track webwite http://melody.syr.edu/hci/amcis04 . Authors need to find out which minitrack to submit; only one minitrack can be submitted for a particular paper, and only minitracks can accept papers.

Reviewers play an important role in the quality control process. SIGHCI has been very fortunate to have had very strong support in the past from the scholars to review for the SIGHCI organized meetings. This year, we have already received reviewing intents from a great number of scholars and we thank these people very much for willing to review. Meanwhile, we anticipate a large number of submissions, thus woud need many more reviewers. We recognize and appreciate the review efforts scholars put and acknowledge this in various ways. We welcome anyone interested in reviewing for the HCI track. Please send your intent to Fiona Nah at [log in to unmask], indicating your expertise or interest areas, and the number of submissions you would like to review. Reviewers also need to follow the specific instructions to get ready to review the assigned papers. You can find and download the Reviewers' Instructions at http://melody.syr.edu/hci/amcis04 .

If you have any questions about the reviewing system/instructions, please contact the Review Chair Nicholas Romano ([log in to unmask]); questions about the conference program in general, contact Program Co-chairs Chris Bullen ([log in to unmask]) or Ted Stohr ([log in to unmask]).

Any questions about the HCI track, or the special issue of IJHCI, please contact Fiona Nah, Scott McCoy and myself. Questions on a specific minitrack, please contact the minitrack chairs.

Hope to see many of you being involved in and presenting at the AMCIS 04 conference!

Ping, on behalf of Fiona and Scott
co-chairs of the AMCIS04 HCI Track
