Hello colleagues:

Please forward this message on to any interested undergraduate or masters
students interested in earning a Ph.D. in the area of 3D User Interfaces,
Virtual Environments and/or Immersive Visualization. Please feel free to

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Wyoming is seeking
candidates for one available graduate assistantship to pursue Ph.D. studies
in the area of 3D User Interfaces beginning Fall 2014 (beginning in summer
may be an option if student is interested).

Nestled between two mountain ranges in southeastern Wyoming with sunshine
231 days out of a year, about two hours north of Denver, CO, UWYO offers a
wide variety and exciting opportunities including year-round cultural and
indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Located in Laramie, a town of
more than 30,800 with a unique blend of sophistication, cultural vibrancy
and hospitality, UWYO draws over 13,000 students from all 50 states and
more than 90 countries. UWYO provides an environment for success, a small
student /faculty ratio, and renowned faculty. As a nationally recognized
research institution, UWYO's global impact begins with our innovative
graduate research opportunities.

Potential candidates should have experience with hardware and software
components in the creation of interactive computer graphics applications.
It is recommended that potential candidates have experience on some level
with one or more of the following: 3D spatial input devices, tracking
technology, and stereoscopic displays. Candidates should have excellent
programming skills, where experiences with modern 3D graphics engines
and/or VR software toolkits are recommended, Experience with Android or
other mobile device platforms considered a plus. Candidates should have
solid understanding and experience with 3D graphics, excellent oral and
written communication skills, a desire to do research, willingness to work
in a team environment, and demonstration of leadership abilities.
Experience with 3D modeling packages and/or source control software is
considered a plus.

Women and underrepresented minorities in computing are strongly encouraged
to apply.

Recipients of a graduate assistantship must be enrolled in a full-time
Ph.D. graduate computer science degree program at the University of Wyoming
for the Fall 2014 semester. This assistantship is includes full tuition and
fees as well as a very attractive stipend to support your Ph.D. studies to
completion. The graduate assistantship is funded by the College of
Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Wyoming as part of an
initiative to become a Tier 1 Engineering College.

your Ph.D. studies and relevant experiences. Examples of work may also be

selection by April.
