Seeking a Post Doc Candidate in the area of HCI and Games starting Jan 2013

Playable Innovative Technologies (PLAIT) Lab at Northeastern University is seeking a Post Doc Candidate in the area of HCI (Human Computer Interaction) and Games. See: http://www.northeastern.edu/games/

PLAYIT or PLAIT (also means Braid, intertwined strands of, in our case, disciplines and activities) is an interdisciplinary faculty group focused on research that include Games User Research, Game Analytics, Game Design Research, Games for Health and Education, and Game Technology

The current open Post Doc position is for a Project that involves Games for Health. This project is a collaboration with a game company called IgnitePlay in Vancouver. The goal of the project is to develop a health based social media and game environment that motivates healthy life style through exercise and healthy food choices. The research group working on this project includes Professors Magy Seif El-Nasr, Carmen Sceppa, and Mariya Shiyko.

For more information about the project see: IgnitePlay Website<http://www.igniteplay.com/> Or Project Page <http://nuweb.neu.edu/magy/research_Healthgames.html>

We seek candidates who have a PhD in HCI, Computer Science or related areas. Successful candidates should show expertise in running quantitative and qualitative experiments involving technology and people (specifically: games or social media and people would be a plus). They should demonstrate knowledge of empirical research, quantities and qualitative methodologies, skills in data collection, data cleaning and processing, manuscript/grant preparation, statistical analysis, working with temporal and social network data, and programming.

Salary is competitive.

We expect the position to start Spring 2013 for 2 semesters, with a possibility to extend to a full academic year depending upon performance and funding.

If interested or for more information about the project, please contact Magy Seif El-Nasr at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
