We are writing to ask the community to help make the CHI 2011
conference a continued success and to explain a new process for inviting
CHI reviewers. PLEASE do read the details below. Key messages in summary:
- register/update your reviewer profile
- add 'precisionconference.com' in your 'email whitelist'
- there is a new batch process to request reviews - an invitation email
will be sent out on Oct 4 pointing you to initial review requests in
PCS; it is then your choice to accept/decline each one

A. Register/update profile on PCS & add 'precisionconference.com' to
email whitelist
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More than 1500 papers and notes were submitted to the conference this
year, and the program committee is currently thinking about which
reviewers will be the best match for each of these submissions.

We need your help as reviewers! Please be willing to review papers and
notes for CHI 2011, and please carry out the following important steps
to help the process run smoothly:

1. Please update your profile in the on-line review system, PCS
(precisionconference.com/~sigchi).
2. If you don't have a PCS account but are willing to review, please
create an account (at the above address).
3. Please indicate (through the "volunteer center" link) that you are
willing to review, and indicate the number of papers that you can take on.

4. Please put precisionconference.com in your 'email whitelist' to
prevent messages from the PCS system going into your spam filters. ***

B.New batch review request process - notice to be sent Oct 4
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In addition, we are using a new process this year that will 'batch' the
first set of review requests and will make these all available at once
on Monday, October 4. The goal of the batch process is to enable
committee members to select the very best reviewers for each paper, and
to provide reviewers more choice in the papers that they take on.

Some notes on the batch process:
- In this first phase, all allocations of papers to reviewers should be
considered as "review requests" rather than "review assignments"
- Reviewers will receive notice on Monday October 4 to indicate that
they have one or more review requests waiting for them in the PCS online
review system. (Note that no requests will appear in PCS before this date).
- Reviewers should then look at these requests, and decide which to
accept and which to decline, based on their expertise and the number of
papers they wish to review.
- Note that we are allowing committee members to make more requests than
the number of slots that reviewers have volunteered for: this only means
that reviewers are able to select those papers they feel most qualified
to review, i.e., reviewer's choice.
- Once the initial batch of requests is dealt with, we will return to
the previous model for requesting reviews (that is, individual request
messages will be sent from committee members).

If you are willing to review, many thanks for taking on this vital role
- the reviewing community is a critical element in maintaining CHI's
standards of excellence. Please be sure to carry out the steps outlined
above so that we can reach you and take your reviewing preferences into
consideration.
