Dear colleagues, we invite you to year three of:
Body as Starting Point: Exploring Inbodied Interaction Themes on SUNDAY, APRIL 26 at CHI2020, Honolulu, Hawaii - wellthlab.soton.ac.uk/inbodied3/<http://wellthlab.soton.ac.uk/inbodied3/>
Inbodied Interaction focuses on understanding how the state of the body’s internal processes affects human performance aspirations, including cognitive, social, physical, health and wellbeing. A goal is to align interactive technology to support all aspects of human performance. This one-day collaborative workshop invites newcomers and experts to help shape the future of Inbodied Interaction by reviewing existing themes, formulating case studies and research questions, and forming research teams to chart paths forward for HCI designs that take the body as a starting point.
Imagine how we might design HCI tools and interventions that:
- Focus on performance rather than only prevention
- Consider how to create with the least amount of tracking/sensing and presentation - minimize the data dose - rather than constant/pervasive tracking
- Build up internal sensing and self-knowledge of personal state to determine the efficacy of a practice, rather than using data to determine whether a person is on track
What would these interactive systems look like? To attain these design goals, it really helps to know a few things about how we work under the hood, as the physio-neuro-electro-chemical social systems we are.
Come to this workshop to contribute your knowledge, build new ideas and skills, and explore, practice and build this new area of HCI by taking the body as a starting point.
CHI2020 - bring your friends - 1 day workshop - sunday, april 26 - short position papers due Feb 11
