*CHI 2014 Workshop **Call for Participation*
*Developing a Living HCI Curriculum to Support a Global Community

*Submission Deadline: *January 17th, 2014

*Interested in the future of HCI Education?* As technologies evolve, so do
the needs of students and teachers of HCI. In 2011 the ACM SIGCHI Executive
Committee decided to update Hewett et al.’s 1992 curriculum in the form of
a "living repository of HCI education ideas and resources." This CHI 2014
Workshop builds on three years of research and community building in
pursuit of this goal funded by the SIGCHI Executive Committee.

This workshop is focused on bringing together an interested and active
group of HCI students, academics, and industry practitioners from across
the world contribute to a flexible, living curriculum for HCI Education.
While the parameters of this living curriculum have yet to be set, we know
that a one-sized fits all, carved-in-stone paper document is insufficient
to support the needs of an evolving field of practice. Instead, we hope to
craft exciting and flexible resources to be shared by a global community of
contributors. The knowledge that we collectively produce will be used to
help SIGCHI understand how to support HCI education at conferences, through
chapters, and by the provision of online resources. These resources might
include: pedagogical tools such as lesson plans, assignments, and
bibliographies; YouTube videos; open source code; novel approaches for
teaching emerging topics; general best practices; important cultural
differences… After discussing the needs of university and practitioner
education, we will aim to define the parameters of a shared, living
curriculum for HCI Education.

*APPLICATION PROCEDURE*
