                               Call for Participation
            Sixth Workshop on Everyday Virtual Reality
                Atlanta, GA, USA - 22 March 2020
                      https://wevr.adalsimeone.me
====================================================

*** Important Dates ***
Abstract submission: 17 January 2020
Submission Deadline: 24 January 2020
Notification: 31 January 2020
Camera-Ready: 14 February 2020

Traditionally, Virtual and Augmented Reality have been conceived for purpose-built highly instrumented laboratories. However, the commercial release of consumer grade Virtual and Augmented Reality head-mounted displays has allowed a wider user base to experience VR and AR in everyday environments such as their own home or work environments. If consumer VR and AR is to evolve beyond the laboratory, a rethinking of the way we design and implement interactive VR and AR systems for these environments application scenarios is needed.

The WEVR workshop will cover “Everyday” Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality research themes in all those contexts and scenarios other than research laboratories and specialist environments. This half-day workshop will bring together researchers and industry practitioners to explore these new challenges and define a new research agenda. We invite authors to submit 4-page position papers, preliminary research results, novel concepts or case studies (up to a maximum of 6 pages).

*** Location ***
W Atlanta - Midtown
Atlanta, GA, USA (co-located with IEEE Virtual Reality 2020)
Date 22 March 2020 (afternoon)

*** Topics of interest ***
We invite submissions pertaining to the intersection between the following themes (but are not limited to) and “everyday” contexts of use such as user’s homes and offices, where XR is intended to refer to Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality.

* 3D User Interfaces for XR in everyday settings
* Gameplay Design and Player Interaction in consumer VR/AR
* Overcoming constraints of ordinary environments (e.g. locomotion techniques, object avoidance)
* Tangible and haptics support to interaction with the environment
* Asymmetric XR interaction between co'located users
* XR home healthcare and education
* Long-term immersion in XR
* New trends of everyday XR applications

Research works on the above themes that do not focus on everyday contexts are not suitable for this workshop.

*** Submission Information ***
Submissions must be anonymised and in PDF format, using the IEEE template (http://junctionpublishing.org/vgtc/Tasks/camera.html). A committee of expert reviewers in the aforementioned domains will review all submissions.

At least one author per paper must register for the workshop as well as one day of the IEEE VR conference. Authors of accepted papers will be expected to give a 10 minutes presentation at the workshop. Proceedings will be submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Digital Library.

Please refer to the website https://wevr.adalsimeone.me for details on the submission procedure.

*** Reviewing process ***
All papers will be reviewed by at least two domain experts. Review decisions will be final. The authors of accepted papers are then expected to resubmit a revised version taking into account the comments made in the reviews.

*** Organisers ***
Adalberto L. Simeone, KU Leuven, Belgium
Benjamin Weyers, University of Trier, Germany
Christoph W. Borst, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, LA, USA
