Two funded Ph.D. positions are available at Politecnico di Torino for the period 2015-2017 (3 years) on the crossings of the following research areas:

- Internet of Things
- Semantic Web / Linked Data
- Human-Computer Interaction
- Ubiquitous Computing

Selected students will work in the e-Lite research group (http://elite.polito.it), an established group working at the intersection of distributed intelligent systems and advanced user interaction. Recent activities include energy monitoring in smart homes and smart buildings, and human-home interaction with wearable devices.

The positions are funded with a Ph.D. scholarship, according to these research proposals:
- Intelligence and Interaction in Ambient Assisted Living (see http://www.phd-dauin.polito.it/proposals.php#11 for further details)
- Internet of Everything: architectures for the new web of things (see http://www.phd-dauin.polito.it/proposals.php#36 for further details)
The second position is sponsored by Telecom Italia, in collaboration with the SWARM Joint Open Lab. Further details on each of these proposals can be found at the Department of Control and Computer Engineering Ph.D. website (http://www.phd-dauin.polito.it/proposals.php).

Research-oriented and highly motivated candidates are required to have good programming skills for desktop and Web applications (mobile development is a plus) and a strong attitude to understand, model, and evaluate user needs and preferences. Candidates should also have good written and oral communication skills, in English, and a passion for presenting and representing in innovative, creative and insightful ways.

For further information and for declaring your interest, please contact professor Fulvio Corno ([log in to unmask]) or Luigi De Russis ([log in to unmask]). Interested students should then apply to the annual Ph.D. call (http://dottorato.polito.it/bandi_en.html), before August 28, 2014.
