** CONFERENCE THEME **
----------------------
The ICLS 2010 conference theme, “Learning in the Disciplines,” invites you
to explore the ways disciplinary perspectives can inform the study of
learning in educational settings, workplaces, and other contexts. This
conference will bring together scholars from a range of disciplines with
researchers in the sciences of learning, instruction, and design. These
diverse perspectives will be brought together to address questions of how we
can better understand and improve learning.
This conference theme highlights central Learning Sciences questions such as:
· How can disciplinary practices and understandings inform Learning
Sciences research, theory, and design?
· How do learning processes vary across disciplines? What, if
anything, is constant?
· How are disciplinary practices and knowledge represented in
educational settings, designs, and practices? How might they be reconsidered?
· How can collaborative research and comparative perspectives
contribute to Learning Sciences research and practice?
Themes highlighted in special panel sessions include:
· Identity as a lens on learning within and across the disciplines
· Representational practices and modeling in the disciplines
· Designs for disciplinary learning
Submissions are encouraged that speak to these and other themes associated
with the Learning Sciences, and the interdisciplinary study of learning.
