Call for Papers
Human-Computer Interaction & Knowledge Discovery at SouthCHI'13,
July. 1-3, Maribor, Slovenia
Special Session
Papers due to February, 15, 2013 (Camera Ready: April, 15, 2013)
http://www.hci4all.at/?page_id=1273
Organization: Andreas HOLZINGER, Gabriela PASI, Andreas AUINGER
Inquiries: a.holzinger AT hci4all.at
Diverse areas, e.g. Biomedicine and Health Care, are facing a flood of
big data - most of it "unstructured".
The Task Force HCI-KDD pursues an ultimate goal to deal with these
challenges:
to combine the best of two worlds: Knowledge Discovery, dealing with
computational intelligence and Human–Computer Interaction, dealing with
human intelligence.
This special session is organized in the context of the SouthCHI 2013,
July 1-3, 2013, Maribor, Slovenia.
The mission is to bring together researchers from diverse areas form
academia and industry in a cross-disciplinary manner,
to stimulate fresh ideas and encouraging multi-disciplinary and
cross-disciplinary work.
Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings by
Springer as a volume of the series of Lecture Notes in Computer Science
(LNCS).
A selected number of the best papers will be published in special issues
of high-end journals (SCI listed).
Our motto is "cross-diciplinary learning from diverse fields" - some hot
topics include ...
* ... Interactive Content Analytics from "unstructured" (weakly
structured) data (e.g. computational topology in biomedical text mining)
* ... Big Data Analytics methodologies, methods, approaches and tools
* ... Multimedia Data Mining & Knowledge Discovery from big data (e.g
from the biomedical informatics domain etc.)
* ... Opinion Mining, Sentiment Analysis and Opinion Extraction (e.g. in
the context of reputation management)
* ... Swarm Intelligence (collective intelligence, crowdsourcing) and
collaborative Knowledge Discovery/Data Mining/Decision Making
* ... Interactive, semi-automatic, multivariate Information
Visualization and Visual Analytics
* ... Multimedia Data Exploration and Sensemaking of Big Data
* ... Time-Oriented Data and Information (e.g. longitudinal data,
complex noisy time series, entropy, ...)
* ... Novel Search User Interaction Techniques (supporting human
intelligence with computational intelligence)
* ... Future Information Interaction Techniques (Note: science fiction
of today is science fact of tomorrow)
* ... Modeling of Human Search Behavior and Understanding Human
Information Needs
* ... Methods and Methodologies (e.g. Support Vector Machines, Boltzmann
machines, Evolutionary computing ...)
* ... Text Analytics (e.g. computational linguistics, Natural Language
Processing, Web Mining, ...)
* ... Topological Data Analyis (e.g. in images, biomed data, medical
diagnostics, clinical assessment, ...)
* ... Special HCI-KDD solutions in the biomedical domain (e.g.
bioinformatics, genome analysis, evolution, ...)
* ... Practical HCI-KDD solutions in the hospital (e.g. content
analytics in business enterprise hospital data, ...)
We are looking forward to your submission,
meanwhile: HAPPY 2013:-)
