Product Developers, Global Marketing Managers, Researchers, Academics, Interaction Designers, Industrial Designers, Human Factors, and Usability Specialists.

You are invited to attend the Eight Annual International Workshop on the Internationalization of Products and Systems (IWIPS 2006) in Lawrence, Kansas - USA. The IWIPS workshop series allow you to share your work and network with colleagues in industry, government and academia that deal with globalization, internationalization and localization issues.

Our theme for 2006 is "the role of design [research, education, and practice] in international product development." In addition to the presentation of papers and case studies, as well as the availability of tutorials, the workshop provides a venue for meetings, discussion of results and cooperation at an international level. The Workshop is organized to maximize the exchange of information and ideas among a delegation from across the globe. Participants will leave with more knowledge and skills in the area of product and software internationalization, and a network of colleagues who are focused on the issues that globalization creates for the design and production of products and systems.

The IWIPS workshop is structured so papers and case studies are combined with invited talks and panel discussions to ensure a good level of interaction among presenters and participants.

In line with the theme, submissions may include the following topics:

- Design Research - effective theories, methods and approaches for
  multi-cultural product design and usability.
- Design Education - evolution in the curriculum, topics of emphasis
in the academia, and challenges presented by the demands of the
  global market.
- Design Practice - innovation in international products and systems,
design integration in product development process and organizational
  overviews.
