CFP: Workshop on Large Scale Idea Management and Deliberation Systems
Tuesday, May. 29, 09:00–18:00, Marseille, France (French riviera)
*Workshop page: http://coop2012.xrce.xerox.com*

The field of Social and Collaborative Computing faces the new challenge of developing tools that allow large crowds to deliberate together: i.e. to generate and evaluate ideas, select the best proposals, and turn these into implemented services, facilities, or products. Business and civic organizations are seeking new technologies and services for including their constituencies in their ideation and deliberation processes, while their constituencies increasingly expect such opportunities. This workshop brings together leading researchers, designers, and engineers who are working on large-scale ideation and deliberation systems. The goal is to articulate the research agenda that will guide the design of these systems in business or civic settings.

CALL FOR PAPERS
The workshop aims to assemble a diverse set of participants with a interest in studying or building systems for large-scale ideation and deliberation in business or civic settings. We invite submissions in the form of position papers and demos (1,500-2,000 words) or extended papers (up to 8,000 words) reporting more substantial research or development work.

Contributions will be invited in the following categories:
- Theoretical contributions (theories, models, frameworks) on ideation and deliberation (i.e., the processes and the effects of system properties) that can inform future design and research.
- Empirical studies: e.g., studies illustrating practices and pointing to specific design requirements for business or civic settings.
- Designs of new systems or proof-of-concept prototypes supporting large-scale ideation and deliberation in civic or business settings; or in-depth evaluations of systems already deployed.
- Cases of multidisciplinarity research showing the interplay between field studies, analysis of requirements, and development of systems.
We recommend using the ACM format for conference papers.
