Special Session "Design of mobile computing systems for work environments" in the International Conference on Computing Systems for Human Benefits ~ WWCS 2007 ~ May 21-24, 2007; Stockholm, Sweden

The usefulness of mobile computing systems, based for instance on Augmented or Mixed Reality technologies, is strongly connected with the usability of the devices themselves and the embedded software applications. The use in working environments comes up with higher demands than in other fields (e.g., entertainment) since safety and work performance are strongly influenced by the adequate design of both hardware and software. To achieve optimal performance and user acceptance, great ongoing efforts in academic and industrial communities are necessary.

A special session on "Design of mobile computing systems for work environments" will be organized at the WWCS 2007 conference. This session constitutes a forum to present research results and solutions by international researchers and developers.

Original contributions related to all areas in interaction technologies for mobile workers are solicited.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Mobile systems applications
o	Integration of mobile systems in work processes and workplaces
o	Examples of mobile systems in working environments (e.g., production, maintenance, logistics, medicine)
o	Collaboration and mobility
o	Interdisciplinary perspectives towards mobile interaction and collaboration (e.g., social aspects)

Human-Machine-Interface design
o	User-centered design tools and methods for mobile systems
o	Model-based design of interactive mobile systems
o	Multimodal interaction (e.g., audio, speech recognition)
o	Visualization techniques for the mobile context
o	3D-graphics on mobile devices

Interaction basics
o	Perception and modeling of the environment
o	Intelligent environments
o	Location-aware interaction
o	User-related and situation-related adaptation
o	Decision-support in mobile systems

Usability & Safety
o	Human Factors issues of mobile interaction
o	System and usability evaluation
o	Safety issues related to mobile devices at work
