 The Global Wordnet Association is pleased to announce the Second
 International Conference of the Global WordNet Association (GWC'04).
The
 conference will be held at Masaryk University, Brno (Czech Republic),
 January, 20 - 23, 2004.

Topics of the GWC'2004 conference will include (but are not limited to):

A.      Linguistics and WordNet:
        a.        In depth analysis of Semantic Relations,
        b.        Theoretical definitions of word meaning,
        c.        Necessity and Completeness issues.

B.      Architecture of WordNet:
        a.        Language independent and language dependent components

C.      Tools and Methods for Wordnet Development:
        a.        User and Data entry interface, organization,
        b.        Extending and enriching wordnets

D.      WordNet as a lexical resource and component of NLP and MT:
        a.        Word sense disambiguation using wordnet,
        b.        Ontologies and WordNet,
        c.        The Lexicon and WordNet

E.      Applications of WordNet:
        a.        Information Extraction and Retrieval,
        b.        Document Structuring and Categorization,
        c.        Automatic Hyperlinking
        d.        Language Teaching,
        e.        Psycholinguistic Applications
F.      Standardization, distribution and availability of wordnets and
wordnet tools.


Authors are invited to submit a full paper not exceeding
6 pages formatted in the LNCS style (see below).

The presentations will be categorized as:

-- oral presentation
-- poster presentation (in special Poster session)

Submissions will have to state the preferred presentation
category.  Please, notice that the presentation format may be
subject to changes following the recommendation of the reviewers.

Papers submitted to GWC 2004 must not be under review by any other
conference or publication during the GWC review cycle, and must not be
previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere.

As reviewing will be blind, the paper should not include the authors'
names and affiliations. Furthermore, self-references that reveal the
author's identity, e.g., "We previously showed (Smith, 1991) ...",
should
be avoided. Instead, use citations such as "Smith previously showed
(Smith, 1991) ...".  Papers that do not conform to the requirements
above
are subject to be rejected without review.


Final papers should be submitted in electronic form (Word or LaTeX in
the LNCS style).

 The conference program will include oral presentations and two special
sessions - Poster session (for parallel poster
presentations) and Demonstration session, where authors are invited to
present actual projects, developed software or interesting material
relevant to the topics of the conference. The demonstrations presented
will not appear in the printed version of the Proceedings of
GWC 2004. The authors of the demonstrations should provide an abstract,
which will be included in the CD version of the Proceedings.

The extended deadline for submissions is September 10th, 2003.
Proposals for demonstrations are accepted until the registration
deadline
(December 5). Decisions regarding acceptance will be announced to the
authors by the middle of October, the deadline for the final papers
is 5th of November.

The Proceedings will be published by Masaryk University in both paper
and CD format.

Early Conference fee information:

All payments will be accepted in CZK, the current exchange rate is cca
EUR 1 = CZK 33

Students:
        CZK 3300 (cca EUR 100)
Regular participants:
        CZK 4000 (cca EUR 120)

Conference fee includes proceedings, CD with proceedings and
demonstrations abstracts, coffee breaks and local transport.
Participation in the Conference also presupposes GWA registration (see
http://www.globalwordnet.org/gwa/gwa_member_form.htm).

Late registration fees (after the Deadline for early
registration) are advanced to CZK 5300 (cca EUR 160) for students and
CZK 6000 (cca EUR 180) for regular participants.

Early Accommodation information:

Student and low budget accommodation (limited number of rooms
available):
   - CZK 700/bed if one person occupies the room,
   - CZK 400/bed, if two persons are in the room.

Hotel Voronez (3 star hotel, booking by the conference
organization):
   - CZK 1100/bed for one person in the room,
   - CZK 800/bed for two persons in the room.

Other accommodation:
   - CZK 1400 or more (to be booked by the participant)

All accommodation includes breakfast.

   - Early registration: until October 20th;
   - Final registration (bank or card transfers should have been
     received): December 5th;
   - Fees and prices cannot be guaranteed for on site
     registration;
