In the past I have seen discussion of the high prices of CHI Hotels and
alternatives posted to this list. I know many folks share rooms to bring
down the expense.
Well, this year I don't have anyone to share with, so I did some
research and thought that what I found would be useful to others in the same
predicament. So here is some info:
www.gohotel.com/seattle_wa_hotels/seattle_wa_hotels.html
gives you a list of downtown hotels.
Most of the first 20 in this list appear to be within walking distance
(I estimate no more than 1.5 km) of the CHI venue - the WA Convention Center.
In fact, you can get a map of all these hotels (including all CHI "official"
hotels) from this page.
At least three - Kings Inn Hotel (+1 206-441-8833), Commodore
Hotel (+1 206-448-8868) and the Camlin Hotel (+1 206-682-0100) - all cost less
than the cheapest CHI hotel, esp. if you call them directly.
What is more, the Camlin Hotel is right across the street from the convention
center - closer than some of the CHI hotels.
Of course, don't expect sheraton-style luxury!
I am not affiliated with any of these hotels or the web site above.
This is merely a public service announcement for informational purposes only :)
