Call for Papers for a special issue on "Interactive Play and Learning
for Children" for the journal Advances in Human-Computer Interaction.

Interactive Play and Learning for Children
Call for Papers

One of the most socially and culturally beneficial uses of human
computer interaction is for enhancing play and learning for children. It
is very important to understand the needs of children and craft
visionary interactive systems designed to enhance education and
entertainment. In this special issue we call for papers which provide
visions and glimpses in the future of human computer interaction for
children's play and learning. We call for papers from academia as well
as industry led papers. In addition, we also welcome papers that
critique and study the disadvantages of computers and media for children
play and learning, as there may be many examples where technology may
make a deficit rather than a benefit. We hope this special issue will
provide concrete visions and goals for improved childrens learning and
play at home, school, and public environments. We also especially
encourage research which is aimed at helping increase in literacy or is
aimed at children with disabilities.

Topics for this special issue are papers related to interactive media
for children's play and learning, with subtopics (specifically related
to children's play and learning) which may include:
