CALL FOR PAPERS

MIS4TEL 2019: 9th International Conference in Methodologies and
Intelligent Systems for Technology Enhanced Learning
with Springer AISC proceedings

Αvila (Spain), June 26th-28th, 2019
----------

SCOPE

Education is the cornerstone of any society and it serves as one of the
foundations for many of its social values and characteristics. Different
methodologies and intelligent technologies are employed for creating
Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) solutions. Solutions are intelligent
when they are rooted in artificial intelligence, stand-alone or
inter-connected to others. They target not only cognitive processes but
also motivational, personality or emotional factors. In particular,
recommendation mechanisms enable us to tailor learning to different
contexts and people, e.g., by considering their personality. The use of
learning analytics also helps us augment learning opportunities for
learners and educators alike, e.g., learning analytics can support
self-regulated learning or adaptation of the learning material. Besides
technologies, methods help to create novel TEL opportunities. Methods
come from different fields, such as educational psychology or medicine,
and from diverse communities co-working with people, such as making
communities and participatory design communities. Methods and
technologies are also used to investigate and enhance learning for
“fragile users”, like children, elderly people, or people with special
needs.

The 9th edition of this conference calls for novel research in TEL and
expands the topics of the previous editions. It looks for papers
discussing how diverse methods or technologies are employed to create
novel approaches to TEL, valuable TEL experiences or innovative TEL
solutions.

As it is traditional of mis4TEL, also this edition aims at catering for
different perspectives and having complementary voices (e.g.,
engineering, computer science, education, medicine).
MIS4TEL 2019 will be held in Αvila (Spain) on June 26th-28th, 2019, in
parallel with the PAAMS'19 International Conference.

DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM WITHIN MIS4TEL

The mis4TEL conference hosts a Doctoral Consortium. The aim of the
Doctoral Consortium is to provide a framework where students can present
their ongoing research work and meet other students and researchers, and
obtain feedback on TEL research directions.

The Doctoral Consortium is intended for students who have a specific
research proposal and some preliminary results, but who are still far
from completing their dissertation.
All proposals submitted to the Doctoral Consortium will undergo a
thorough review process, which aims at providing detailed and
constructive feedback. The accepted submissions will be presented at the
Doctoral Consortium and published in the conference proceedings.

SUBMISSION

— Review process
MIS4TEL welcomes the submission of papers with a preference for the
topics listed in the call for papers. All submitted papers will undergo
a thorough review process. Each contribution will be refereed by at
least two experts in the field. Reviewers use the following criteria:
relevance, originality, significance, quality and clarity.
The papers must consist of original, relevant and previously unpublished
sound research efforts related to any of the topics of the conference.

— Submitting papers
MIS4TEL papers must be formatted according to the Springer AISC
Template, with a maximum length of 8 pages in length (4 pages in
Doctoral Consortium), including figures and references. All proposed
papers must be submitted in electronic form, in PDF format, using the
Paper Submission Page.

— Publication
Accepted papers will be included in the MIS4TEL Proceedings are
published by the AISC series of Springer Verlag
(http://www.springer.com/series/11156), which are indexed in major
databases, e.g., Scopus. At least one of the authors will be required to
register and attend MIS4TEL to present the paper in order to have it
included in the conference proceedings.

— Special Issues
Authors of selected papers from MIS4TEL 2019 will be invited to submit
an extended and improved version to a special issue in a journal venue.
