Call for Participation: deadline extension

We are extending our deadline for workshop abstracts to *5th July*, as
British HCI has extended the deadline for early bird registrations to July

HCI, the Web and the Older Population

A full-day workshop at British HCI 2006
Queen Mary, University of London
12 September 2006

HCI issues for older people are extremely important in light of the
rapidly ageing population in developed countries and the potential
offered by computerised technology, a potential that can only be
fulfilled if the technology can be used effectively by its target user

This workshop on HCI and the older population will provide a forum for
the presentation of current work and a platform for discussing key
challenges in this area. It aims to build up and support the research
community in this area and encourage dialogue with older people.

The workshop continues a successful series held at HCI in recent years
and, this year, focuses on the creation and use of websites, a
particularly important and timely topic as the use of the internet
becomes increasingly integrated with daily life.

Those interested in attending the workshop are asked to submit first an
abstract and then a short position paper (2 pages) on any aspect of HCI
and the older population, including design methods, applications,
devices and services. These will be circulated in advance and published
in the workshop proceedings.

Revised deadlines:

Abstract deadline: 5 July
Notification: 14 July
Early bird registration deadline: 21 July
Position paper deadline: 4 August

Please email or post submissions to Anna Dickinson at the address below.

The submitted papers will be published in dedicated proceedings in
electronic and printed form. Following on from the example of the
previous workshops in this series, we also plan to publish a journal
special issue, probably with Universal Access in the Information Society
(UAIS), with submissions solicited from workshop attendees.
